Making Unique Models

Variety is one of the things that make a sim less boring and more exciting... less drab and more colorful. Creating something to this end is very enjoyable and satisfying. While not everyone has the same talents there are those that want to learn and experiment and there are those that are willing to freely share their knowledge. In this tutorial I will try to cover how you can simply make something different with a small amount of learning.

As some of you may have noticed, if you have downloaded any of my models, I don't believe in cluttering up my TRAINSET directory with a ton of sub-directories. I group my models by the type they are. So all of my SD40-2 models are in one directory named EMD_SD40-2, all of my box cars are in one directory named Boxcars, and so on. In order to do this, it most time means a little work. As you probably know, this requires each model, as well as their related files, to have unique names as no two files can live together in the same directory that have the same name. In this tutorial you will learn how to make a model unique so it can live in the same folder with others of its kind. I will not get in to the painting aspect here, but more in to the process of modifying *.s, *.wag and *.sd files to accomplish this.
